Reminding the internet of the increasing cases of ‘auto mafia’ in the country- especially in Karnataka- a horrifying video recently surfaced online. The video showed a ‘Rapido’ auto driver aggressively shouting at a woman passenger, over allegedly reaching the pick-up spot– “three minutes late”. The video showed the two continuing their argument, where the driver was adamant on blaming the woman over not arriving on time. The passenger, on the other hand, pointed out that the driver could have left, yet chose to stay. As per the post, the driver not just “harassed” her, but also “threatened” her. At the end, she was compelled to give him Rs 20, as only then did the driver leave the area. Naturally, the woman was also left concerned over her safety, as she pointed out that the driver knew her address. Later, updating on the matter, the woman shared that Rapido reached out and suspended the driver. As soon as the post went viral, netizens began to react. Most found the woman’s experience “familiar”, while some stated that the driver was talking about ‘wasting 10 minutes’ instead of 3, in the video. Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post. Check out the viral post: “@rapidobikeapp who runs your mafia business? Because this driver just harassed me for waiting for 3 mins and he has the audacity to say ‘dekhta hoon kaise jaate ho’. I booked an auto. I ask him to wait for 2 mins because I was finding the keys. I come down. This certain gentleman starts threatening and shouting at me. I paid him 20 rupees because he was threatening to harm me. This is right infront of my house. Rapido calls people late night after a ride is over. It has always been so funny to me cause the customers are at risk before starting the ride. To hell with this city and its people who can just walk away threatening you like this and the only vestige of hope you have is by tweeting about it?” the post read. “@rapidobikeapp team reached out and reviewed the matter. The captain is suspended. They were quick to help with this. Thanks to them. Since the captain knows my address, I was worried about my safety, they have addressed those concerns too,” the post further read. The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘miless_15’. The post was shared today and pulled more than 1K views from netizens. I have never experienced a single issue with rapid so far. If I need to go somewhere I come to the boarding point and book the auto, instead of booking from home and making anyone wait. Always thought it was the least thing I could do to save everyone’s time,” a user read. “Still trying to understand why the auto driver kept saying that he had been waiting for 10 mins but OP claims it was only 2 mins... Dunno who is right here!!” added another. “Look at the brighter side. He is talking in Hindi,” commented another. “Sorry to hear about this. Add registration number and tag bangalore police. These kind of threats are definitely not acceptable,” added another. “Been in Bangalore for 7 years and only very recently have the auto annas become excessively aggressive. Karnataka government's scheme of giving nearly free autos to BPL folks has backfired,” wrote the next. ALSO READ: ‘Aa Rahe Hein Aliens Ya So Jaye Ab?’ Internet Gets Curious About 3I/ATLAS! Viral
