EXCLUSIVE: CoComelon outfit Moonbug has a new Head of Distribution and Partnerships in the APAC region. Amrita Sindhu, who has worked at NBCUniversal, CNBC International, Fremantle, and Discovery Communications, has replaced Yasmin Zahid, who left a few weeks ago to pursue another opportunity. Reporting to EMEA and APAC boss Nicolas Eglau, Sindhu will focus on new business initiatives in APAC including partnerships in the educational sector. Moonbug, which is owned by Kevin Mayer’s Candle Media, has been pushing into the APAC region as it seeks to build fresh partnerships for its kids franchises. Earlier this year, Moonbug launched Blippi Singapore, an adaptation of the popular series exploring Singaporean landmarks and culture, in partnership with Mediacorp. It also recently launched its first channel in Australia in partnership with Fetch TV and launched the Moonbug Channel in Hong Kong and Indonesia. Moonbug also tied with Hello Kitty owner Sanrio on a ground-breaking deal which will include a new show with characters from both CoComelon and Hello Kitty. “As Moonbug continues to expand across APAC, we are confident in our growth strategy and our ability to further build our business in the region,” said Eglau. “Sindhu’s expertise and proven track record make her an ideal leader to drive our continued strategic expansion, and we are thrilled to have her on board.” Sindhu added: “Our priority across APAC will be to accelerate growth through strategic partnerships and world-class content that truly connects with local audiences. I look forward to collaborating with Nicolas and the wider team to strengthen Moonbug’s position as a trusted leader in children’s entertainment.”
