University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) has announced a new gifting campaign in time for holiday planning, and one that will “strengthen local health care,” the organization said. On Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, UHKF, the fundraising arm of the Kingston hospitals serving much of eastern Ontario, launched “a landmark Double Your Donation Matching Gift Challenge” alongside Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) and Providence Care. According to UHKF, “a group of generous Angel Donors who wish to remain anonymous” have committed to matching every dollar donated to the organization up to $100,000. The campaign will run from Monday, Nov. 3 to Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, and donations will be shared between KHSC and Providence Care “to support the most pressing needs across the two organizations,” UHKF said in a press release. The organization explained “every gift becomes two” – that a donation of $1 will be matched by the Angel Donors, bringing that donation up to $2, a donation of $5 would be doubled to a gift of $10, etc. The financial support will help ensure that “care close to home remains strong, responsive, and innovative.” UHKF President Tom Zsolnay expressed why the campaign made possible by the Angel Donors is so significant. “What an incredible opportunity these Angel Donors have created – it’s a call to the community to rally, to multiply their impact, inspiring the entire community to give, and helping ensure our hospitals continue to have what they need to provide compassionate, world-class care right here at home,” Zsolnay said in a statement. That opportunity is particularly important right now, UHKF explained, noting that “local health care is at a pivotal moment.” The organization said that KHSC and Providence Care face “evolving demands” such as growing patient volumes, patients with more complex needs, and the need for new technologies, “all while remaining accountable to the community that they serve.” “KHSC has grown through the vision and generosity of our community, and this partnership has never mattered more,” KHSC President and CEO David Pichora stated in the release. “As we prepare for the next generation of care – through new technologies, modern facilities and advanced treatments – this matching challenge helps turn community support into real progress for patients across our region. I’m very grateful to the Angel Donors and all who are investing in the future of care at KHSC.” Maintaining their anonymity, UHKF said that the Angel Donors are “a group of dedicated community leaders” who are “united by their belief that healing should always live close to home.” The organization said that the generosity of the Angel Donors “reflects a shared conviction that strong hospitals and health-care sites build strong communities, and that when neighbours unite behind a common cause, we can create lasting change.” “At Providence Care, we see firsthand how community generosity transforms lives,” Providence Care President and CEO Cathy Szabo said. “This matching challenge strengthens the very foundation of care: equipment, staff support, innovation – and it does so where it matters most, in our own community.”
