A startup founder from France’s Lille has become a viral sensation on the internet for turning his wedding suit into an advertising canvas to help him pay for the big day in his life. Dagobert Renouf tied the knot in a ceremony on October 25 as he walked down the aisle wearing a tuxedo featuring ads from more than 20 companies. “Big thanks to the 26 startups who helped us pay for our wedding, it was a beautiful day,” he wrote on X, while sharing a few photographs from his marriage. Each of them is believed to have paid him to get their logo printed on his wedding suit. Among the over two dozen startups that took part in the one-of-its-kind initiative were Renouf’s own employer, CompAI. On being asked about the return on investment, Renouf shared on X earlier that the ads paid for themselves, while he also managed to get another $2,000 as a leftover. “Sold $10k then $2.5k taxes then $5.5k suit. So basically it paid for the suit + $2k,” he wrote. https://x.com/dagorenouf/status/1981710879931666439 How it started: Initially, the unconventional idea came to Renouf’s mind in July this year. For this, the salesman hatched a creative scheme as he decided to rope in companies to sponsor his wedding and pass it off as a business expense under advertising, according to Dexerto. As part of the plan, he got in touch with a tailor, who redesigned his wedding dress. “Currently getting people to sponsor my wedding and pass it as a business expense under advertising. Sold 7 spots today,” he wrote in a July post on X. Currently getting people to sponsor my wedding and pass it as business expense under advertising.
