Zohran Mamdani, the 34-year-old Indian-origin democratic socialist lawmaker, pulled off a stunning victory in the fiercely contested New York city mayoral elections. Zohran Mamdani celebrated his win in the New York City elections by borrowing a quote from Jawaharlal Nehru's iconic Tryst with Destiny speech. Mamdani quoted Nehru's speech from 1947 when India marked its independence from over 200 years of British rule."Standing before you, I remember the words of Jawaharlal Nehru.
