You're in for a treat this Saturday night - as you cosy up on the sofa, you can kick back and watch a timeless classic on ITV . Ghostbusters is set to appear on your screens tonight, just in time for Halloween weekend. Whether you're a long-time fan wanting to reminisce or hoping to introduce the family to the classic film, it's the perfect crowd-pleasing film for all ages. First released in 1984, the film features an outstanding ensemble cast comprising Hollywood legends, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis all playing eccentric parapsychologists. Their characters, paranormal researchers Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, are forced to go into business themselves after being turfed out of their cushy university jobs. They join forces to form the Ghostbusters, a team that fights ghosts across New York. And just in time, as an ancient, powerful entity is about to return and has its eyes on the city. The film also features Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Ernie Hudson and one of the all-time great bad guys - William Atherton. Viewers watch on the edge of their seats as they wonder just how much the Ghostbusters can do as a team to take down the shape-shifting demon of their dreams – or nightmares. A Rotten Tomatoes review says: "This is a film that quite literally helped invent a whole new genre for comedy; it never took itself too seriously and always was just something easy to watch. The cast is amazing; the characters are better. This is the kind of thing that could never be remade (please stop trying) and will never ever be swayed from the top ten greatest movies of all time." When the family-friendly film was first released in the 80s, it quickly rose to critical acclaim and became a huge commercial success. Not only did it earn around $282million worldwide during its initial run, but it was also highly praised for mixing genres. Another viewer wrote: "Ghostbusters was an amazing tale of four brave men who battle ghosts in New York City. Nothing is more mesmerising than how good overcomes evil and wins the day. Sigourney Weaver is at her tantalising best, and Rick Moranis lends a comic flair. I highly recommend this movie for all ages." People can't help but praise the cast, even years later. One viewer wrote: "This film still holds up after all these years! I was waiting and still got a little jolt at the first ghost they encountered, screaming back at them.
