'Ted Lasso' Season 4 will see a whole new cast

Since its premiere in 2020, soccer fans and non-soccer fans alike have cheered on the charmingly hilarious sports comedy Ted Lasso . Celebrated for its ups and downs and heartwarming character arcs, the show has grown into somewhat of a cultural phenomenon. With the show’s protagonist Ted (Jason Sudeikis) returning to America at the end of season three, it seemed the story of AFC Richmond had come to an end. Needless to say, the announcement of season four left many questions about what to expect next. Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed has confirmed that the new season will challenge all expectations. In a recent interview with Collider, the actor confirms our suspicions that season four of Ted Lasso will introduce an entire new host of characters. “I think sworn to secrecy is about right,” Mohammad said. “Look, I know that it’s about a whole different set of characters. I can’t even talk about it without giving anything away! We’ll have to see. We’ll have to see who pops up where and when. But I know that they’re filming it now, and I’ve been socializing with them all. They’re all very well, so we’ll see what happens.” Now, this doesn’t mean the characters we’ve grown to know and love are going away entirely. Several of the cast has been confirmed to return for season four; however, Mohammad’s statement suggests they may no longer be central to the story, but rather occasional appearances. Anyone who’s seen Ted Lasso understands that it’s the ensemble which truly steals the show. Their relentless optimism and found-family dynamic has sucked us in from the beginning. It’s sad to imagine we may not see as much of them in the future. Still, season three left off with the door wide open for key characters to carry the team forward. Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Jamie (Phil Dunster) have taken over as managers of the men’s team, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is selling the club to the fans, and Ted returns to Richmond to coach the newly formed women’s football team. The shift has definitely raised its fair share of concerns for the show’s future. It will surely be interesting to see how the new dynamic plays out. Production for season four is underway now.
