There have been multiple reports of the light moving in the sky from west to east. Footage and images shared on social media show a bright, hazy light overhead. Multiple reports of strange light moving in sky over Ireland in last 15 minutes with some describing as a like a big object with light in front but no noise and moving very quickly. Reports from Southeast, Midlands and West. Moving West to East. Anyone else spot it pic.twitter.com/ej0qag9Aje— Carlow Weather (@CarlowWeather) October 29, 2025 In the last hour, there have been numerous theories shared – including that it could be the beginnings of an alien invasion – but the overriding and most likely theory is that it is the result of a rocket launch by SpaceX today. Advertisement The light pictured overhead has, in some images, similar characteristics to the swirl of light seen after other SpaceX launches, which is caused by the dumping of fuel. SpaceX launched 29 more of its Starlink internet satellites to orbit today, sending them up from Florida’s Space Coast. The Falcon 9′s first stage returned to Earth as planned 8.5 minutes later, while its upper stage continued carrying the 29 Starlink satellites toward low Earth orbit. SpaceX is a private American aerospace and space transportation company founded and majority owned by Elon Musk. It is sending satellites into orbit in an effort to build its Starlink megaconstellation, which currently consists of over 8,000 satellites. It plans to grow much bigger.
