'Shut The F Up Forever': Charlamagne Tha God Shreds Van Jones Over 'Divisive' Mamdani Talk

LOADINGERROR LOADING Charlamagne Tha God on Wednesday took on CNN political commentator Van Jones for arguing that New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani “missed an opportunity” in what he described as a “sharp”-toned victory speech. Jones — moments after Mamdani wrapped up his speech — claimed that the democratic socialist wasn’t as “calm” and “embracing” as he was on the campaign trail, adding that he missed his chance to bring more people into his “tent” and displayed a “little bit of a character switch.” Advertisement The radio host — who took part in CNN’s election night coverage but did not appear on a panel with Jones — gave the network’s political commentator the “Donkey of the Day” title on Power 105.1 FM’s “Breakfast Club” before questioning what he found “divisive” about the democratic socialist’s speech. “Van, shut the F up forever, OK? There was no opportunity missed, the man just won, all right? Like he just won. After you won, yes, you’re gonna celebrate. Yes, you’re going to talk loud. What do you mean he wasn’t warm enough?” he said. Advertisement Charlamagne — earlier in the segment — tossed to a clip of Mamdani remarking on his hopes to work with police officers to reduce crime and tackle homelessness. Elsewhere in the speech, Mamdani declared that “your struggle is ours too” after referring to immigrants, the transgender community, single mothers and Black women who President Donald Trump “fired from a federal job.” “How is any of that divisive?” said Charlamagne, noting that Mamdani spoke to the working class of “all races” in his remarks. Advertisement Charlamagne later stressed that Mamdani “deserved to take a victory lap.” “I just don’t understand how in the era of Trump, we’re still telling people how to talk. The language of politics is dead and Donald Trump killed it. And you know when you can really talk that talk? After you win,” he said. Charlamagne went on to suggest that Jones took issue with Mamdani’s comments about “bad landlords,” billionaires and the president. TheBacklashis Here!
