'One of the greatest series ever' is returning with White Lotus and The 100 actors cast

Stars from White Lotus, American Gods and Teen Wolf are joining forces to revive an iconic drama that's been hailed as "an absolute masterpiece". Prison Break is staging a return eight years after concluding on Fox, with this forthcoming series set to be its "own thing" whilst still expanding the same universe. Created by Mayans MC showrunner Elgin James, Prison Break's revival centres on a soldier-turned-corrections officer who "takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she'll go for someone she loves". Taking on the role of correction officer Cassidy is actress Emily Browning, renowned for her performances in productions such as Legend, The Affair, American Gods and most recently, one more shot. Browning is certainly not the sole recognisable face appearing in the Prison Break reboot, with numerous other stars also confirmed. Browning will be accompanied by actor Lukas Gage, who takes on Jackson, "a politician from a well-to-do background in his first congressional campaign". White Lotus enthusiasts will remember Gage from the inaugural series of the award-winning HBO sensation, where he played hotel worker Dillon. This isn't Gage's only major television appearance either, as he has also featured in Netflix's You , the Gossip Girl revival, American Vandal and Euphoria . They will be accompanied by performers including The Winchesters' Drake Rodger as prisoner Tommy, Mayans MC star Clayton Cardenas as Michael "Ghost" and Teen Wolf and The 100 actor JR Bourne as Junior. The spin-off was initially announced to be in the works back in late 2023 before being commissioned for a pilot episode in December. The pilot for the new Prison Break series was shot in June 2025 in West Virginia, with Hulu now giving the green light for a full series order. There's been no announcement yet on when production will commence on the complete season and no hint of a start date. The original Prison Break drama, which debuted in 2005, centred around Michael Scofield (portrayed by Wentworth Miller) who sought to prove his convicted brother Lincoln Burrows' (Dominic Purcell) innocence and rescue him from death row by devising a plan to escape prison. The show ran for four series and was succeeded by a TV film titled The Final Break which aired in 2009, followed by a sequel series that aired in 2015. The new Prison Break is not expected to feature Michael and Lincoln actors Miller and Purcell respectively. Prison Break will be available to watch on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
