The samosa is something which carries more than 1,000 years of tradition and which people associate with Asian cooking, popular at Indian restaurants as a starter and which is often seen as a savoury item filled with potato or a mixture of chicken or lamb. However, one person has taken the humble samosa and created a new way of cooking and serving them and what started as a fun experiment in the kitchen has quickly turned into something people couldn’t stop talking about or eating. Zeyn Tayub and his company Samosaboy have been providing a unique taste of Asia from a mobile stall at the McArthurGlen Retail Outlet in Cannock, with a range of baked, not fried, savoury and sweet samosas available, including Korean Lamb BBQ and Mexican Chicken and sweet options filled with Nutella and Kinder Bueno. Mr Tayub said he had started working on the concept during the Covid-19 lockdown and said that the idea had been met with a mixed view when he first announced he was doing it, but he knew it was one which would work. He said: "My family, in the beginning, thought I was crazy, because I come from south Asian background and when I told them about the idea and the concept, it was almost like blasphemy as samosas are so embedded in the culture.
