US President Donald Trump has once again launched a scathing attack on New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, labelling him a “communist.” Trump’s remarks came during an interview in response to a question about Mamdani’s self-proclaimed social identity. “Communist, not a socialist—he’s far worse than a socialist,” the US President said. Trump was then asked about people comparing him to Mamdani. “Some people have compared him to a left-wing version of you—charismatic, breaking the old rules,” the interviewer asked. The latest criticism comes only a day before the NYC mayoral election day, which is to take place on Tuesday, November 4. Earlier in June, Trump called Mamdani “100% Communist Lunatic”. “He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him,” Trump had said back then. Who Is Zohran Mamdani? Zohran Mamdani is the frontrunner in the mayoral race. If he wins the election, he will be the first Muslim mayor in the United States. He was born on October 18, 1991, in Kampala, Uganda, and moved to New York along with his family at the age of seven. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Africana Studies from Bowdoin College in 2014. Before entering politics, he worked as a foreclosure-prevention housing counsellor in Queens, helping low-income homeowners. Mamdani has been serving as a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 36th District in Queens since January 2021. He describes himself as a democratic socialist and is affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America.
