A 'flawless' horror film that's perfect for Halloween watching is currently available on Netflix . Halloween, the 2018 follow-up to the cherished 1978 original, can be streamed at no additional charge. Set four decades after the initial movie, it chronicles Laurie Strode's confrontation with Michael Myers years after surviving his murderous rampage. Horror enthusiasts will remember that the seventies masterpiece centred on Michael, who had been imprisoned for murdering his sister, following his breakout from a psychiatric facility and return to his home town seeking fresh victims. Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis portrayed Laurie whilst Tony Moran embodied the terrifying character of Michael. The slasher movie established the foundation for a series of films set within the Michael Myers world, though the 2018 instalment disregards the storylines of all other entries in the franchise, reports the Manchester Evening News . Directed by filmmaker David Gordon Green, the contemporary interpretation of Halloween subsequently spawned two additional films, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. However, the initial film emerged as a resounding favourite amongst fans. Rotten Tomatoes critics bestowed upon it a "certified fresh" 79 per cent rating. Their verdict commended the horror sequel for "wiping the slate clean after decades of disappointing sequels". General audiences were equally captivated, with one writing: "A masterpiece of modern horror that perfects a great classic." Another viewer gushed: "Great movie better than most Halloween movies." Boy was I wrong...HALLOWEEN 2018 was probably one of the best reboots I have ever seen." A fellow viewer praised the film further: "One of the best entries on the Halloween franchise. Tense, violent, atmospheric, dark, well acted (much better than the original regarding this btw). Yeah, love this one even more than when I watched it for the first time." Meanwhile, another cinema enthusiast remarked: "Saw the first one in the theatre in 1978 it took 40 years but was worth the wait. The darkness to the movie match the original. It is a perfect sequel hands down." Anyone wanting to revisit the 1970s classic can watch Halloween free of charge on BBC iPlayer. Halloween is streaming now on Netflix
