'Kindest man in the world' Clodagh McKenna on meeting husband in her 40s

Irish celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna has opened up about meeting her husband Harry Herbert later in life - and eight years after they first set eyes on each other, she's clearly still smitten! The couple, who were introduced at a Fortnum and Mason lunch through mutual friends in 2017, appear to be proof that soulmates do exist and for Clodagh, it was clearly worth waiting to her 40s to find the right person. She gushed about her husband on a TV interview on the Lorraine show, describing him as 'really special' and 'the kindest man in this world'. Clodagh said: 'He's really, really special and he came into my life at a later time in my life. I didn't meet him until I was in my 40s and we got married. 'It's really interesting when you're later in your life what you look for in a person, and I look for somebody with the same values as me.' The chef, who has just launched her new cookbook, Clodagh's Happy Cooking, said that Harry is the number one supporter of her career and loves to cheer his wife on. She continued: 'Obviously, he's gorgeous and handsome and everything, but he's the kindest man in this world and he supports me with my career, which is so lovely as a woman in her 50s, to have her husband kind of go, "Go get em!" 'This morning, when I was leaving for [this interview on Lorraine] he was like, "I'm so proud of you darling, go on the show...". It's teamwork.' Clodagh McKenna became single again at the age of 40 after she split with her long-term partner of four years, Peter Gaynor, in 2016. Harry, who has three adult children, had been single for two years when they met, following a 25-year marriage. While some men might play hard to get, Harry made his intentions clear from the get-go and they soon went on their first date to the plush Chiltern Firehouse. Clodagh and Harry tied the knot in August 2021 in a fairytale wedding ceremony on the grounds of Highclere estate, Harry's ancestral home, which just happens to be where Downton Abbey was filmed. We love a happily ever after!
