This season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi explores several social and women-centric issues, and Gates’ cameo aims to shed light on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s work in women and child care. Irani, who previously served as Union Minister for Women and Child Development, shares a long-standing association with Gates and his foundation. “We’re glad to have a global voice like Bill Gates lending support to us. Seeing our association translate to a soap opera in itself is incredible. It’s a historic first. Bill Gates hasn’t been on any media platform in a fictional set-up,” she said. Reflecting on their collaboration, she added, “I’ve had the fortune of working with him and his foundation for years now. I’ve seen how he advocates maternal and child health.” On Wednesday, reports confirmed that the episode will feature Tulsi and Gates connecting over a video call, where he offers her some “key advice.” Reacting to this, Irani said, “The network and the production house are well-equipped to respond to that, but I’m sure that everyone will be extremely amazed to see the communication between us on this special episode.” The episode is expected to be a milestone moment — a rare crossover of global influence and Indian television nostalgia and fans cannot seem to wait for it.
