'I'm a pilot's wife and there's 1 mistake women always make when travelling'

A frequent flyer has shared the top mistake she sees female passengers make when travelling by plane. Laurie, from Houston in the US, is married to a pilot and has picked up plenty of helpful tips and tricks over the years. She has garnered more than 306,000 followers on her Instagram page by sharing this handy information. And for her latest post, the travel guru warned women about bringing a certain type of carry-on bag on board. She said: "Here's the one mistake women make when travelling. This travel mistake is packing their purses or bags with no zipper on the top because you can lose important travel essentials." Thankfully, there's an easy way to prevent this from happening. Laurie added: "The solution is, if you have to take that beautiful bag with no zipper on the top, do this... "Pack most of your items in pouches. Then if they spill out during security or during turbulence on the flight, you will see that pouch versus the one item. Laurie's post garnered more than 1,100 likes and many took to the comments section to thank her for the advice. One wrote: "Love a zip top bag while travelling." And another agreed: "I prefer zippered bags even for everyday for the same reason." A third gushed: "Great tip! Thanks, Laurie." Meanwhile, a fourth added: "I love your tips." 1. Keep essentials accessible Make sure your passport, boarding pass, phone, headphones and other essentials are placed in a top pocket or outer compartment so you can remove and replace them regularly. This should prevent you from flapping at all the airport checkpoints, which is when you're in danger of dropping items too. Picking a bag with a small pouch could be particularly useful for this very reason. 2. Separate your liquids At most airports, you'll have to separate liquid items when passing through security. Doing this before travelling is advisable to save you time and avoid the grumbles of fellow passengers around you. It could also be worth packing toiletries or other liquids in your checked bag to avoid this drama altogether. 3. Consider a tech organiser You can use a small pouch or charges for items like chargers, cables, power banks and adapters. Not only does this make them easy to locate in your carry-on bags, it also prevents cables from getting tangled among all your other belongings. 4. Pack up your snacks You don't want a load of crumbs taking over your bag, so make sure all snacks and drinks are nice and secure. It could be a good idea to put any food in resealable bags or containers to avoid any spills or mess along the way. 5. Bring some spare clothes Unfortunately, delays or flight cancellations can occur and you may be separated from your luggage for a while. Packing a couple of clothing items can be very helpful for this reason. It will also be a life-saver in the small chance your check-in bags get lost along the way.
