'Called Maha Kumbh Useless': BJP Hits Out At Lalu Yadav Over His Video Celebrating Halloween

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav after videos of him celebrating Halloween went viral on social media. The party pointed out that he had previously described the Maha Kumbh festival as “meaningless” while now participating in Halloween celebrations. Taking to X, BJP Kisan Morcha (BJPKM) wrote, “Don’t forget, people of Bihar, this is the same Lalu Yadav who had called the grand festival of faith and spirituality Maha Kumbh useless and is now celebrating the festival of Halloween. Those who attack faith will not get votes from the people of Bihar.” #ShameOnLaluYadav#BiharElection2025 pic.twitter.com/u1kquCg1gg — BJP Kisan Morcha (@bjpkm4kisan) November 1, 2025 Video Of Lalu Yadav Celebrating Halloween Goes Viral This came after Lalu Yadav’s daughter and RJD leader Rohini Acharya shared videos of Yadav celebrating Halloween on her social media platform. “Happy Halloween to everyone,” she wrote on X. The videos show the RJD chief taking pictures of his grandchildren while they were all dressed up in costumes. What Did Lalu Yadav Say About Maha Kumbh? The former chief minister stirred controversy earlier this year when he described the grand Maha Kumbh festival as “meaningless.” Responding to a question about the large number of devotees traveling to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the religious event, Yadav reportedly said, “The Kumbh has no meaning… It is just meaningless.” His remarks drew sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bihar BJP spokesperson Manoj Sharma said the comment reflected the RJD’s attitude towards the Hindu faith. “Such statements stem from his politics of appeasement. RJD leaders have repeatedly disrespected the religious sentiments of Hindus, and Lalu Prasad’s recent remark on the Maha Kumbh once again exposes the party’s mindset towards Hinduism,” Sharma said.
