Stars from White Lotus, American Gods and Teen Wolf are joining forces to breathe new life into the reboot of a "gripping" fan-favourite drama. Eight years after its final episode aired on Fox, the unforgettable Prison Break is set for a revival, with the upcoming series promising to be its "own thing" while still expanding the original universe. The brainchild of Mayans MC showrunner Elgin James, the reboot of Prison Break centres around a soldier-turned-prison officer who "takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she'll go for someone she loves". Emily Browning, known for her roles in Legend, The Affair, American Gods and most recently, One More Shot, will portray Cassidy, the correction officer at the heart of the story. Browning isn't the only recognisable face in the Prison Break reboot, with several other stars also announced. Joining Browning is actor Lukas Gage, cast as Jackson, "a politician from a well-to-do background in his first congressional campaign". Fans of The White Lotus will recognise Gage from the award-winning HBO hit's inaugural series, where he played hotel employee Dillon. Gage's impressive resume doesn't stop there, having also featured in Netflix's You, the Gossip Girl reboot, American Vandal and HBO's first season of Euphoria as Tyler who was beaten up by Frankenstein star Jacob Elordi's Nate Jacobs. They will be joined by a host of other stars including Drake Rodger from The Winchesters as inmate Tommy, Mayans MC star Clayton Cardenas as Michael "Ghost", and JR Bourne, known for his roles in Teen Wolf and The 100, as Junior. The spin-off was initially announced to be in the works back in late 2023, before being greenlit for a pilot episode in December. The pilot for the fresh Prison Break series was shot in June 2025 in West Virginia, with Hulu now giving the go-ahead for a full series. There's been no whisper yet on when production will kick off for the complete season and no hint of a start date. The original Prison Break drama, which hit our screens in 2005, centred around Michael Scofield (portrayed by Wentworth Miller) who was hell-bent on proving his convicted brother Lincoln Burrows' (Dominic Purcell) innocence and rescuing him from death row by hatching a plan to break out of prison. The show spanned four seasons and was succeeded by a TV film titled The Final Break which aired in 2009, followed by a sequel series that graced our screens in 2015. The new Prison Break isn't expected to feature Michael and Lincoln actors Miller and Purcell respectively. Prison Break will be available to watch on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
