Mathys Tel adds a new arrow to his quiver in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw vs Manchester United Tottenham Hotspur dropped points at home in the Premier League once again as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United. Manchester United took the lead through Bryan Mbeumo’s header in the 32nd minute. Tottenham were poor with their passing, link-up play and movement, with their forwards failing to trouble the visitors’ goalkeeper Senne Lammens. For a long time, it looked as if Mbeumo’s first-half goal would be the difference between the sides. But substitute Mathys Tel made it 1-1 in the 84th minute, and then Richarlison struck with what looked like a stoppage-time winner. Then, deep into the sixth minute of injury time, Matthijs de Ligt rose highest from a corner at the back post to head home and salvage a point for Man United, leaving the Lilywhites and our fans exasperated. Mathys Tel reacts after Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Man United Spurs were slow, pedestrian and largely clueless in possession. Randal Kolo Muani barely was seen and rightly substituted at half time for Wilson Odobert, who slotted in at left-wing that allowed Richarlison to move centrally as a No.9. Xavi Simons was enduring an anonymous second half and Frank had it enough with him in the 80th minute, bringing on Mathys Tel for the Dutchman. And it took only Tel four minutes to make an impact. Destiny Udogie made a low cross from the left in the box and Tel spun De Ligt before arrowing his shot into the top corner, albeit a deflection off the United defender. After the game, the French forward was asked about his goal. He told TNT Sports (h/t BBC Sport): “It’s a move I’m working on in training. It’s about practice, practice, practice. I saw the ball coming to me and it’s just about turning my body to strike. I want to help the team, the coach, the club. I want to do my job and that’s what I try to do every day.” Tel makes an impact off the bench Tel was thrown into the mix in the 80th minute to add energy and flair as Spurs were flat for large periods of the game. Chasing the game, the north Londoners did not create much in the final third. Tel came on and gave the United defenders some problems with his movement and link-up play. And six minutes from time, the youngster scored a fantastic leveller that got the home crowd singing again. Frank could not have asked anything more from Tel when he introduced him in the 80th minute. The Danish boss must be extremely frustrated with his team’s defensive organisation from the corner via which De Ligt scored, more so with the Red Devils having only 10 men on the pitch.
