Montreal Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis did not mince words following his team’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at the Bell Centre on Tuesday, calling it “worst game of the season.”The Canadiens surrendered three goals in the first period alone, including two in a span of 43 seconds, and trailed 3-0 before mounting a remarkable comeback. Flyers forward Nikita Grebenkin tied it 4-4 late in regulation, and Philadelphia ultimately prevailed in the shootout after a scoreless overtime.Goaltender Sam Montembeault kept the Habs in it with several key saves, but St. Louis was unimpressed with his team’s overall execution (22:50 onwards):"I still think when we were crawling back, I still think our details were not great, and we were just flirting," Martin St. Louis said post-game. "Monty was making great saves, and I think he kept us in it after we scored a couple of goals. He added:"We were able to be opportunistic on our chances, but overall, this game is probably with the least amount of details we play, probably our worst game of the season."Canadiens defenseman praises Sam Montembeault for his performance in loss to FlyersMontreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson had high praise for goaltender Sam Montembeault after the game. The Habs netminder helped the team secure a point despite the defeat after making 38 saves and posting a .905 save percentage."Resilient by [Montembeault] to honestly steal us a point there,” Hutson said via NHL.com. “He faced a lot of shots and when you go down 3-0 early it’s tough to stay in the game, but he did and battled for us, and we wish we got the result for him."The Montreal Canadiens are atop the Atlantic Division with a 9-3-1 record. They travel to Prudential Center to face the New Jersey Devils (9-4-0) next on Thursday.
