However, she refused to participate, focusing on her college.Marion Jones transitioned to track and field in 1997. She tasted success at the World Athletics Championships held in Athens, where she won gold medals in the women's 100m and the women's 4x100m relay, respectively. Jones further won a gold medal and a bronze medal at the 1999 edition held in Seville, Spain.Marion Jones' greatest moment of glory came at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, where she won five gold medals in women's 100m, the women's 200m, the women's 4x100m relay, the women's 4x400m relay, and the women's long jump events, respectively. Little did anyone know that the pinnacle of her athletic career would also become her biggest nightmare.In 2004, Victor Conte Jr., co-founder of BALCO, revealed in an interview that Marion Jones was allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs to enhance her performance.
