There is pressure - Nebraska Volleyball player Ryan Hunter gets real on competing alongside Harper Murray and other talented players

Nebraska Volleyball's Ryan Hunter expressed her view on competing alongside other talented players in the program. Hunter joined the Huskers program this year as a freshman. She serves as the opposite hitter for the team. Before missing competing in high school senior year due to an ACL injury, Hunter competed for Cox Mill High School in 2023, when the team finished as runner-up at the North Carolina 4A state tournament. She made her debut for the Huskers on April 26, 2025, against the Kansas Volleyball team at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. In her first appearance for the Huskers, she scored 11 kills in 16 attempts. Following the Cornhuskers' faceoff against Michigan State, Hunter was asked if she feels the pressure to perform alongside her fellow talented teammates. She admitted feeling pressured, but added that their support eases the stress. "To a degree, I think I do. But I feel like we lean on each other the most. That's at least what I do. I lean on my teammates. So, there is pressure, but I feel like leaning on each other resolves a lot of it." (4:25 onwards)When asked about her feelings for making an impact on the No.1 team, she replied:"It has definitely been a dream. I guess that was my goal here, just to help in one way or another."During Nebraska Volleyball's second match against Michigan State this season on October 25, 2025, the Huskers won with a 3-0 lead.Nebraska Volleyball's coach Dani Bushboom Kelly expresses her views on Ryan Hunter's debutDani Busboom during the Division I Women's Volleyball Championship in Omaha, Nebraska. The coach highlighted that Hunter performed her duty well during the game. In an interview with Hailvarsity, coach Busboom Kelly reflected on the freshman's absence from beach volleyball and how she was prepared for the season. "Super aggressive for a freshman to come out there and swing away and some of those out of system swings were pretty insane and that sets the tone for her," coach Bushboom Kelly said. "She's going to go after and go for kills and I told her she didn't play beach so we did some training with her, 'Your job is to block balls and kill balls and like let's not worry about anything else,' and she did that tonight so it was good to see her do her job."Nebraska Volleyball will next lock horns with Wisconsin at the UW Field House on October 31, 2025.
