Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 edition. He was set to become the first capped Indian player to participate in Australia's premier T20 franchise tournament. Ashwin was signed by Sydney Thunder ahead of the 2025-26 edition.BBL broke the news with a social media post that said Ravichandran Ashwin was ruled out due to a knee injury. The all-rounder had expressed his desire to feature in overseas franchise leagues.Ashwin made his IPL debut with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2009. He also represented the Rising Pune Super Giants (RPS), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Rajasthan Royals (RR). In what was a homecoming, Ashwin played his final IPL season in 2025 for CSK.He ended with 187 wickets from 221 games at an average of 30.22 and an economy of 7.20. The 39-year-old played 11 T20Is in Australia and bagged as many wickets at an average of 27.54 and an economy of 7.76.Overall, Ashwin has played 333 T20s and has picked up 317 wickets at an average of 26.94 and an economy of 7.11.
