Nebraska volleyball's Rebekah Allick recently reflected on former coach John Cook's training approach amid the team's dominating streak. The Huskers have so far enjoyed a 20-0 unbeaten streak this season with having won 34 sets consecutively. They have surpassed the 31-set streak, recorded by the program in 2009. However, the longest streak of 53 sets, posted in 2007, still remains unchanged. Huskers have been successful in maintaining their dominance in 10 home and seven away games so far. In a press conference, Allick shared her opinion after being asked about the plan for missing a set in the upcoming games. She highlighted that the team would maintain its focus on process and remember the former coach's approach. She also added that winning sets consecutively doesn't confirm the national title. Although Allick stated that it was an 'accolade,' she made her opinion clear that it is nothing more than an Instagram post."Just keep playing," Allick said. "I feel like if we become fixated on the outcome, it has never ever worked in anyone's favor. So just staying in the moment is huge and a big takeaway that I have from John Cook, like just coaching me over the last few years. He almost used to come with a little bit of an attitude when we were ranked number one. He was like, 'So you think you guys can just coast this week because you're ranked number one?' Just this and that."The Nebraska volleyball's senior added:"Yeah, it's an accolade, but it's nothing more than an Instagram post. It doesn't decide if you want the national championship or conference title or anything. So it's something to be cool and like, 'Oh yeah, that's nice,' but it doesn't determine your win on Friday or Saturday night." (7:30 onwards)Cook announced his retirement from coaching in January 2025, after leading the Huskers for 25 years. Nebraska volleyball's Rebekah Allick opens up on her approach after facing a setback in the gameNebraska volleyball's Rebekah Allick opened up on her mentality to approach the game after facing a setback, stating that she is tough on herself. In a press conference, Allick added that she doesn't like to show pity for herself, as other teammates might be dependent on her. "Kind of what I was speaking to earlier, like just being really hard on yourself when it doesn't click right away, and just for her to feed you again, it really like snips that conversation down your head like over. It's like there is no time for that. Like, there's no pity party." (8:30 onwards)Allick also received praise from Nebraska volleyball's coach Dani Busboom Kelly, who referred to her as the 'best out-of-system setter.
