The outdoor volleyball match shattered the previous world record for women's sports attendance with 91,648 fans, which was listed during the Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Wolfsburg on April 22, 2022, in Barcelona, Spain. The match also broke the previous attendance record of any American women’s sporting event. Before the Huskers' record-breaking match, the USA’s FIFA World Cup Final against China at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on July 10, 1999, held the record with 90,185 fans in the stadium. In a recent interview with B1G Volleyball, when asked about the popularity of Huskers volleyball, Murray highlighted the outdoor match and asserted confidence in recording the same feat again. "I feel like the perfect example is a stadium match," Murray said. "I think I have met some people who have asked me where I play. They were like, 'Are you in the team that played in the football stadium?' And I was like, yeah. I feel like that's a perfect example, not many schools could do that, and I am convinced that we can do it again if we really want to do. So I mean it's amazing."
