Ben Shapiro recently questioned why Megyn Kelly has not condemned Candace Owens' conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk's murder during a live episode of Kelly's show. Megyn Kelly is currently on tour for her show, The Megyn Kelly Show, and Ben Shapiro joined her at her last tour stop in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 6, 2025. During the tour stop, Shapiro and Kelly discussed Candace Owens, with Shapiro claiming that he and Kelly had different viewpoints regarding Owens' conspiracy theories about Kirk's death. For the uninitiated, Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University on September 10. Shapiro told Kelly that he believed what Candace Owens was doing was "evil." Kelly cut in, saying it was not her business to speak up against Owens. Shapiro asked why Kelly thought it wasn't any of her business, suggesting that her job was to "comment on these things for a living." Megyn Kelly responded that she was not the "mother of the internet." Ben Shapiro then claimed that Owens had accused Erika Kirk of allegedly murdering her husband, and Kelly replied that she was not aware of that allegation."You know, again. this is why, you know, I think you and I differ on our angle with regard to, for example, Candace Owens. I think that what Candace Owens is doing right now is evil. It is evil what she is doing right now, OK?" Shapiro said.He added:“But if this were on the left and somebody were accusing Charlie Kirk of his wife having murdered him, I assume that you would be talking about it."Ben Shapiro continued that commentators like themselves had a "manifest requirement to speak out" when people say or do "morally wrong" things, regardless of friendship, saying:"Friendship should not trump our manifest requirement to speak out when people do and say things that are both detrimental to conservatism and morally wrong."Candace Owens claimed Ben Shapiro "lied through his teeth" following his appearance on Megyn Kelly's tourCandace Owens responded to Ben Shapiro's claims about her during his appearance on Megyn Kelly's tour, accusing the podcaster of lying. Owens claimed that Shapiro made up the theory that she blamed Erika Kirk for her husband's death out of "thin air" in a X post on November 7, 2025, writing:"Ben Shapiro took the stage last night with @megynkelly and lied through his teeth. He said that I accused Erika Kirk of murdering Charlie Kirk. This quite literally is made up out of thin air. Looking forward to responding to him on my show later today."In another post, Owens claimed that Shapiro "tried to pressure" Kelly to speak about her, calling him "completely deranged."Candace Owens @RealCandaceOLINKThat is beyond smearing. He tried to pressure Megyn Kelly to make a statement about me by lying through his teeth and EXPLICITLY stating that I accused Erika Kirk of killing her husband. And then saying it was an evil that Megyn had to condemn. He is completely deranged. For the uninformed, Candace Owens was previously employed at The Daily Wire, a right-wing media outlet that Ben Shapiro co-founded in 2015. According to CNN, Owens joined the company in 2021, and in 2023, Owens and Shapiro clashed due to her supposed antisemitic remarks following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. In November 2023, Shapiro, who is Jewish, slammed Owens for her comments in a TikTok video, calling her “absolutely disgraceful" and accusing her of "faux sophistication." In March 2024, The Daily Wire announced its decision to cut ties with Owens.During a livestream on November 6, 2025, Candace Owens thanked The Daily Wire for firing her after her show, Candace, was reportedly ranked the No. 1 podcast by Podscribe.
