American journalist and political commentator Megyn Kelly recently shared her reaction after Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, seemingly received backlash for contradictory claims about his son liking the late right-wing political activist, Charlie Kirk.On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, The Megyn Kelly Show host took to the social media platform X and reshared videos of Gavin Newsom making mismatched claims about his son’s fondness for Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed while speaking on stage at a university event in Utah on September 10, 2025.Resharing the video from X user Kevin Dalton, who called out the 58-year-old American politician and businessman, writing:“Gavin Newsom: I can’t tell you how much of a fan my son is of Charlie Kirk. During a campaign event, Gavin said that he stayed close with the late Trump ally after he appeared as his debut guest on This is Gavin Newsom in January.Speaking with progressive political commentator Bryan Tyler Cohen, the member of the Democratic Party said:“He was gracious enough, to not only say, yes, he flew out, to do it in person. And I spent not just the hour plus, in a very civil conversation with Charlie, I spent time with him after, and we stayed in touch, including my team, stayed in touch pretty consistently.”According to Fox News, when Kirk was a guest on Newsom’s podcast, the two reportedly clashed over transgender athletes in women’s sports. Meanwhile, Gavin also talked about his son’s excitement for Charlie being a guest on his father’s podcast.“Literally last night, trying to put my son to bed. He’s like, no, dad, what time is Charlie Kirk going to be here? What time? And, I am like, dude, you are in school tomorrow,” Gavin told Charlie.Notably, during his interview with CNN’s Elex Michaelson, Gavin discussed how the former’s son reacted to the killing of the prominent conservative political activist. When the CNN journalist asked:“So, that’s your son, obviously a fan of Charlie Kirk. What was the conversation like between you and your son, after Charlie Kirk was assassinated?”Replying to it, Gavin claimed:“He called me. I don’t know how he got a phone, but he called me from the school that day, really alarmed. And all his friends were around the phone that wanted me to somehow express or understand what was going on. He wanted to know if he was dead.”In the interview, Gavin expressed that his son “wasn’t a fan” of Charlie Kirk, but was familiar with the right-wing political activist and his ideas.For the unversed, the suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, was arrested after a 33-hour manhunt. The 22-year-old is reportedly accused of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and felony discharge of a firearm.Meanwhile, Robinson’s arrest was first announced by US President Donald Trump, who also called for the suspect to face the death penalty.
