Doesn’t embody the essence or soul of what a Real Madrid player should be - Pundit makes claim about Barcelona's Lamine Yamal

Former Real Madrid striker Ivan Zamorano has sparked a new wave of controversy about Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal by claiming the young winger does not possess the character required of a Real Madrid player. Zamorano's comments comes just days after Yamal accused Los Blancos of stealing and complaining. While Yamal’s talents are undeniable, the Spaniard has become infamous for his off-pitch remarks, which are usually aimed at the Spanish capital club. The Barcelona star has on numerous occasions attempted to get under the skin of Los Blancos players with his comments, and his most recent remarks appears to have been last straw among many Madrid supporters.During a recent chat with El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol on El Cafelito, Zamorano dismissed the idea of signing Yamal for Madrid, referencing his latest comments about the club. Instead, he picked Pedri as the Barcelona player he would sign for his former club, noting that the midfielder has the ‘essence and soul of Real Madrid.’“I wouldn’t sign Lamine Yamal for Real Madrid. He’s a star, but he doesn’t embody the essence or soul of what a Real Madrid player should be. I would sign Pedri, who is a star and a phenomenon... and without saying a word. He is humble, down-to-earth, and speaks only when necessary. Pedri has the essence, the soul, of Real Madrid,” Zamorano said.Emphasizing what players wearing the Madrid shirt must represent, Zamorano continued:“Real Madrid is a team with class and culture, and the players who play for Madrid have to represent that. I never heard Messi say that Real Madrid steals, and he was the best in the world.”Despite the criticism, Zamorano advised Barcelona to properly guide Yamal if they want him to become a great player.“They have to try to guide Lamine Yamal. That way he’ll only become a great player. Players who leave a legacy are made of a different breed,” he concluded.Tempers flared between Barcelona and Madrid players after the final whistle in the last El Clasico. Yamal was the center of attention in the fracas, having had heated exchanges with a couple of Los Blancos players.Luis de la Fuente says Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal are no longer at loggerheads after El Clasico rowLamine Yamal and Dani Carvajal engaged in a war of words in last month’s El Clasico, sparking speculation about the impact of the incident in the Spanish national team dressing room. In fact, reports emerged after the confrontation that Spain players were divided over choosing sides between the pair. However, De la Fuente has dismissed concerns that the spat could affect the team's cohesion. During a recent chat with Spanish journalist Jose Ramon de la Morena, De la Fuente said:“There has never been any incident, any strange behavior from anyone. There are no schoolyard fights. The feeling is one of family, of unity, prioritizing the common good over individual gain. That says a lot about this group of footballers. I think that now it's up to their clubs to talk; the people at their clubs are responsible. I 've spoken a lot with Lamine, as well as with Dani Carvajal, and with everyone else.He added:“I’ll always remember the European Championship, Lamine’s cross and Carvajal’s finish, the hug they shared , their faces—that’s what happens in the national team. I’m totally and absolutely convinced that the common good is what matters here.”Carvajal recently underwent a knee surgery and will not feature in Spain’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey, while Yamal is expected to be called up despite nursing a niggling groin issue.
