Do your proper research- Fans slam BuzzFeed for mixing up TXT's Hueningkai and EXO's Kai in viral thirst tweet segment

BuzzFeed’s latest Thirst Tweets episode featuring EXO’s Kai quickly sparked controversy after viewers noticed a major mix-up. The video, released on October 28, 2025, showed the idol reading flirty fan tweets about himself. However, several of them weren’t even about him. Fans discovered that at least three of the featured tweets were actually meant for TXT’s Hueningkai. This caused widespread confusion and criticism online. The nearly 13-minute segment started normally, with the EXO member charming fans with his witty and composed reactions. Viewers initially praised his cool attitude and humor as he handled the cheeky tweets confidently. However, as more people watched, some fans pointed out that a few tweets contained references clearly matching Hueningkai’s personality and appearance, not the idol in the segment.Social media users quickly put the pieces together when they noticed the blurred profiles of TXT fan accounts behind the tweets. The original posters even reposted the clip themselves, joking that their tweets had “reached the wrong Kai.”While some found the situation funny, others criticized BuzzFeed for being careless. An X user, @huekiechip, wrote,❄️icee⁵;⁷ ࣪⋆✩˙ @huekiechipLINK@BuzzFeed do your proper research next time!!! Moas don't need to clarify sht!!! After completing his military service in February 2025, he made his return with his fourth solo mini-album, Wait On Me. He also launched his first-ever solo world tour, KAION. The tour spanned across Asia and North America and received praise for his performances. In addition to his music, he also attended Paris Fashion Week for the Lacoste show in early October.Street Style - Paris Fashion Week - Womenswear Spring Summer 2026 - Day Seven (Image via Getty)EXO, on the other hand, is entering a new chapter filled with both excitement and internal challenges. The group recently announced their large-scale fan meeting, EXO’Verse, scheduled for December 13–14, 2025, at Inspire Arena in Incheon. The lineup features Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, and Lay. Lay is rejoining group activities after years of solo work in China. The event will act as a prelude to EXO’s much-anticipated 2026 comeback album, their first since Don’t Fight the Feeling in 2021.However, the group’s preparations have not been free from controversy. Members Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, collectively known as EXO-CBX, are still in a tense contractual dispute with SM Entertainment. The trio previously accused the label of unfair contract terms and revenue discrepancies. SM responded with claims of breach of contract. As a result, they are currently barred from upcoming group events, sparking mixed reactions among fans. While some support EXO’s active six-member lineup, others still call for a full nine-member reunion using the hashtag #NO_CBX_NO_EXO.
